A KTN is the unique number assigned to you once approved for TSA PreCheck. You must enter it in the KTN field when booking flights with participating airlines to ensure the TSA PreCheck indicator appears on your boarding pass. You can find your KTN in your approval email or text message, or look it up on our free KTN lookup tool.

The online application can be completed in as little as five minutes, and the in-person appointment at an enrollment center usually takes about ten minutes. Typically, you will receive your Known Traveler Number (KTN) within 3 – 5 business days; however, some may take up to 60 days.

You can check your TSA PreCheck status in the Enrollment Status section of our enrollment website. Applicants and members also receive status updates by email, phone, or text, depending on their communication preferences selected during enrollment.

You can renew your TSA PreCheck membership online or in person at an enrollment center for up to 6 months prior to your KTN expiration date. The cost for renewal is just $69.95 online and $58.75 in person. Once you renew, your membership is once again valid for 5 years.
