Company Pays Tribute To The Nation’s Fallen Heroes Through Event Sponsorship, Corporate Team
ASHBURN, Va. – October 20, 2010 — For employees at Telos® Corporation, supporting the warfighter is what they do every day. But on Oct. 31, the company will take that commitment to the streets in support of the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) Run and Remember Team.
“The TAPS Run and Remember Team pays tribute to the sacrifices made by our men and women in service to America, while raising funds and creating awareness to support the TAPS mission. Many of our runners, including children, are survivors who utilize these events in their healing process,” said Marie Campbell, director of the Run and Remember program for TAPS.
“We’re thrilled to have Telos as our corporate sponsor for the 2010 Marine Corps Marathon and Army Ten Miler, and we’re even happier that 15 of the company’s employees and their family members will be joining us on the race course to run in memory of our fallen heroes,” said Campbell.
Founded out of tragedy in 1994 by bereaved military families, TAPS established itself as the front-line resource offering support to more than 30,000 families and loved ones of our nation’s fallen military.
TAPS provides comfort and care through comprehensive services and programs including peer-based emotional support, case work assistance, crisis intervention, seminars for adults, Good Grief Camps for children, and grief and trauma resources. Services are provided free-of-charge. For more information about TAPS, go to http://www.taps.org/ or call the toll-free crisis line at 800.959.TAPS.
“We work side-by-side with our military customers every day, and we all have an appreciation for the sacrifices they make,” said John Wood, chairman and CEO of Telos Corporation. “It just makes sense that we would extend that appreciation beyond our core business by supporting organizations like TAPS that do great work for those coping with tragic loss.”
Telos has a long-standing tradition of supporting the nation’s warriors through various programs including a 2008 Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce initiative to support a local National Guard unit returning from deployment, Operation Homefront and Operation Pinecone. In August 2008, the company formalized this tradition when Wood signed a Statement of Support for the Guard and Reserve.
