Since the TSA PreCheck® Application Program began in December 2013, millions have enrolled to speed up their airport security experience.

With TSA PreCheck, travelers can keep their shoes, belts, and light jackets on, and leave laptops and 3-1-1 liquids in their carry-on bags.

TSA PreCheck is available for eligible travelers when departing from a participating airport or when connecting on domestic flights after returning to the U.S. from an international airport.

Now, we bring this expertise to our work as a TSA PreCheck enrollment provider.

Understanding Known Traveler Numbers (KTNs)

A Known Traveler Number (KTN) is a membership number assigned to each TSA PreCheck member. Typically 9 to 10 characters long, the KTN must be entered when you book a flight to ensure the TSA PreCheck indicator appears on your boarding pass, allowing access to expedited security lanes at airports nationwide.

After being approved through the TSA PreCheck Application Program, you can easily look up your KTN online if you don’t have it handy.

How to Sign Up for TSA PreCheck

The online application takes only a few minutes to complete.

Part of the application also includes choosing an enrollment location for an in‑person appointment. During the visit, an agent will verify citizenship and identity documents, snap a photo, collect fingerprints, and process payment.

Most travelers receive their KTN within three to five days, though some applications may take up to 60 days.

TSA PreCheck membership is valid for five years from the date of approval.

Telos has multiple enrollment partners conveniently located across the country, including Office Depot® and OfficeMax®.

Renewing TSA PreCheck Can Be Done Online

Most members can renew their TSA PreCheck membership online.

The online renewal process is quick, taking a few minutes, and travelers may begin renewing up to six months before their membership expires.

Once renewed, members keep their existing KTN, which helps program benefits continue without interruption.

TSA PreCheck Touchless ID

TSA PreCheck Touchless ID uses facial comparison technology to speed up and improve the accuracy of security screening without physical contact.

Travelers are not required to present a physical ID; instead, facial comparison technology verifies identity. Participation is optional, and those who prefer to show a physical ID may do so at any time. Photos and personal data are deleted within 24 hours of the scheduled departure.

For those who opt in through their airline, the verification process at the checkpoint takes only a few seconds. Opting in requires uploading your passport details and agreeing to the terms of service.

While TSA PreCheck Touchless ID is not yet available at all airports, the program continues to expand.

Program Benefits and Next Steps

TSA PreCheck continues to evolve, making travel faster, safer, and more convenient for millions. Whether you’re enrolling for the first time or renewing online, a TSA PreCheck membership remains key for travelers seeking a smoother, faster airport experience.
