08.07.2007 -- Xacta Executives to Present Seminars at AFITC 2007
Xacta to Present Topics Ranging from Helping Troops Communicate in Convoys to Sending Classified Information over Wireless Networks
ASHBURN, Va. – August 7, 2007 – Xacta Corporation executives will present three seminars during the Air Force Information Technology Conference taking place in Montgomery, Ala., August 13-16, 2007. Xacta is a subsidiary of Telos Corporation, which has more than 30 years experience helping the Air Force build secure technology solutions.
The three seminars will delve into the issues of building secure technology for use by the Air Force and joint commands. The following abstracts outline the topics to be covered.
Communications on the Move Speaker: Tom Badders, Director of Strategic Development, Xacta Secure Networks Date/Time: Tuesday, August 14, 10:30 a.m. ET In theater, military personnel need access to communications-on-the-move (COTM) solutions that provide real-time voice, video and data capabilities as they travel across all types of terrain. It is critical for personnel to be able to communicate with other vehicles and command centers no matter what radio frequencies individual units are using or whether local or state communications infrastructures are down.
Effective COTM solutions support a wide range of applications, including data, voice over wireless IP, two-way video surveillance, mesh wireless radar, ground based sensor monitoring and force tracking capabilities. They integrate mesh wireless networks and provide high-speed broadband connectivity to military vehicles moving at high speeds. These integrated capabilities meet the varying needs for first responders, tactical field operations, mobile command centers, and more.
This presentation will discuss the technologies that enable this critical capability, the integration requirements to make it all work properly in the field, and potential field uses of these capabilities.
Is It Time To Start Moving Secret Traffic Over WLANs? Speaker: Robert Smith, Senior Network Architect, Xacta Secure Networks Date/Time: Monday, August 13, 2:30 p.m. ET
Now that wireless local area networks have become commonplace, and policies and architectures have been established to ensure standards, interoperability and security, is it time to start moving secret traffic over wireless LAN’s? Multiple technologies and products are available in the market to encrypt data in accordance with NSA’s requirements for the transmission of secret data. Following the necessary guidelines, how can you: 1) design and implement a wireless system that ensures security to the levels required by NSA; and 2) ensure classified operational policies are adhered to in a mobile environment?
This presentation will outline the technologies available, policies and architectures that have been developed, and challenges in implementing and operating SIPRNet wireless.
Transitioning to DIACAP and Automating the SISSU Process Speaker: David Wilson, Vice President of Product Management, Xacta Information Assurance Solutions Date/Time: Tuesday, August 14, 8:00 a.m. ET
System security certification and accreditation (C&A) processes within DoD and the Air Force have changed significantly within the past year, largely due to the release of the interim DIACAP in July 2006 and the update of AFI 33-202 in March 2007. On top of the already complex security management processes, Air Force systems owners and security officers are now faced with two designated approval authorities (DAAs) and separate authority to operate (ATO) approval chains. Additionally, all systems and their security status information must be recorded into the Enterprise Information Technology Data Repository (EITDR) for Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) and SISSU (Security, Interoperability, Supportability, Sustainability, Usability) compliance reporting purposes. These efforts should be automated to reduce manpower requirements and compress timelines. This automation can be achieved through the selection and implementation of existing commercial, off-the-shelf technology.
In this presentation, Wilson will review the current C&A, ATO and ATC process requirements within the Air Force, identify recent changes in DAA authority, and discuss the importance of automating C&A, as well as FISMA/SISSU reporting. He will also demonstrate how a DITSCAP C&A effort can be seamlessly migrated to a DIACAP C&A effort.
Xacta will also be exhibiting in the Telos/Xacta booth #410 in the AFITC exhibition hall. Xacta solutions, including Xacta Comms on the Move, will be on display directly outside the exhibit area throughout the conference.
