Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board

As Telos CEO and chairman of the board, John Wood leads the company’s support of the world’s most security-conscious government and commercial organizations with a portfolio of security solutions and services in cyber, cloud, and enterprise security. During his tenure at Telos, John has diversified the company’s product portfolio and expanded its footprint to include commercial enterprises, the military, civilian and intelligence agencies, and allied nations around the world.

Over the course of his career, John has established himself as a trusted leader who brings together the private and public sectors to address critical cybersecurity issues. He is a frequent speaker on cybersecurity at industry and government events, and has testified at congressional committee hearings on cybersecurity. He was named a “Tech Titan” by Washingtonian magazine, and received the Committee on Economic Development’s “Leadership in the Nation’s Interest Award.”

An active member of the greater Washington, D.C. business community and a vocal champion of civic entrepreneurship, John was the founding chairman of the Loudoun County, Va., CEO Cabinet, and served for five years as chairman of Loudoun County’s Economic Development Commission. He currently serves on the board of the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts, and is the former chairman of the Alliance for Digital Innovation, an independent voice calling for greater use of commercial innovation and emerging technologies throughout government.

Since 2012, John has served as the chairman of the board of directors for the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, a national organization that provides care and support for the families of America’s fallen military heroes. He also served for ten years on the board of directors of Project Rebirth, a nonprofit organization that serves veterans and first responders affected by tragic loss and celebrates the resiliency of the human spirit. In 2017, John accepted Trout Unlimited’s Corporate Conservation Partner designation on behalf of Telos for the company’s support of TU’s Veterans Service Partnership, a program that helps the veteran community find hope and healing through fly fishing and conservation.

John earned degrees in finance and computer science at Georgetown University.

Mark Bendza is executive vice president and chief financial officer. In this role, he is responsible for Telos’ accounting, financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, financial strategy and operations, contracts, procurement, information systems, corporate development, investor relations, tax, and treasury functions. He has over 25 years of experience in strategic planning, risk management, financial planning and analysis, financial strategy and operations, mergers and acquisitions, investor relations, tax, and capital markets.

Prior to joining Telos in 2021, Mark held positions of increasing responsibility in finance and business management with global companies Honeywell and Northrop Grumman, and mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, and credit roles with major investment banks globally.

He is a member of the Latino Corporate Directors Association, and is a former member of the board of directors of Reach the World, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating learning resources for K-12 classrooms by connecting youth with travelers through global, virtual exchanges.

Mark holds a bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan University and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

As Telos executive vice president of Security Solutions, Mark Griffin is responsible for the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of the entire Telos portfolio of cybersecurity offerings. He has over 20 years of experience in government IT contracting, materials management, and systems integration projects in the electronics and communications fields.

Mark joined Telos as a program manager, and in 2004 he was named vice president of the company’s Traditional Business Division. In 2007 he was promoted to vice president of identity management and became head of the newly-formed Telos Identity Management Solutions subsidiary.

E. Hutchinson Robbins, Jr.

Executive Vice President, General Counsel

Hutch Robbins serves as Telos’ executive vice president and general counsel, and oversees all legal matters, including corporate governance, risk mitigation, intellectual property, litigation and dispute resolution, contract enforcement, and legal compliance. Over a three-decade career, he has earned a reputation as a skilled lawyer with deep experience across a wide range of issues.

Prior to joining Telos in 2022, Hutch was a principal of Miles & Stockbridge P.C. in Baltimore, Md., where he led the firm’s commercial and business litigation practice group for ten years.

Hutch is on the advisory board of the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service, is a trustee of Baltimore Center Stage, and is on the board of Start the Adventure in Reading - Annapolis.

He earned his juris doctor degree, with honors, from Duke University, and his undergraduate degree, with honors, from Trinity College.

Michael Bell

Vice President of Secure Networks Operations

Michael Bell serves as vice president of Secure Networks operations. In this role, he oversees the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of Telos’ fixed and deployable, wired and wireless solutions, secure mobility solutions, defensive cyber operations, migration/modernization and transformation of voice comms into VoIP solutions. Michael has over 20 years of experience leading team and organizations, both large and small, in a wide range of functional areas.

Michael joined Telos in 2013 as a senior director of business operations. Prior to that, he held senior positions at SAIC and U.S. Investigation Services.

He is an active member of the National Contract Management Association (NCMA) and is an NCMA-Certified Professional Contracts Manager. He is also a member of the Project Management Institute.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Brockport.

Lee Canterbury

Senior Vice President of Growth

Lee Canterbury is responsible for Telos corporate growth, including growth strategy, business development operations and support, and sales. He brings nearly four decades of experience successfully implementing business development strategies for commercial organizations serving the private and public sectors. Having led strategy and business development efforts across numerous federal government agencies, he holds a track record of funded contract awards valued at over $6 billion.

Prior to joining Telos in 2022, Lee served in executive positions at SAIC, General Dynamics IT, and other federal technology companies.

He is the founder of non-profit The Noble Group.

Lee holds two bachelor’s degrees from West Virginia University, and two master’s degrees in business management and engineering management from George Washington University. He has completed the Harvard Business School Executive Leadership Series.

Malcolm Cooke

Malcolm Cooke

As Telos’ vice president and chief information technology officer, Malcolm Cooke is responsible for all of Telos’ corporate information technology operational readiness, as well as internal information technology initiatives and strategy. He also oversees the physical, logical, and industrial security for all Telos facilities. Throughout his career, Malcolm has amassed a wealth of information technology and security skills, experience, and numerous certifications, including A+, N+, Security +, MSS, MCP, MCSA, MCTS, and VMTSP.

Malcolm joined Telos in 2008 as a system engineer. Prior to joining Telos, he served in various IT support and management roles at Equitrac and ReMax. He served for three years in the U.S. Navy.

Since 2021, Malcolm has served on the Board of Directors of the ARC of Loudoun, which advocates for, educates and supports people with disabilities and their families.

Malcolm holds a bachelor’s degree in information technology from American InterContinental University and an associate’s degree in computer science from ECPI University.

Chace Hatcher

As vice president of technology and strategy, Chace Hatcher is responsible for the development, evolution, and scalability of Telos’ portfolio of software products. He leads a team of software developers, engineers, and product managers and oversees software development, security, testing, deployment, and operations and maintenance. Chace has nearly 20 years of experience of leading highly-skilled technical teams and is an expert in emerging technology and platform design.

Prior to joining Telos in 2021, Chace was the founder and CEO of Diamond Fortress Technologies, the first company to successfully develop a mobile touchless fingerprint biometrics software solution.

Chace holds three patents in touchless fingerprint technology, and is a recipient of the Alabama Governor’s Trade Excellence Award and the Birmingham Emerging Business of the Year.

He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and a law degree from Samford University.

Vice President of Human Resources

Donna Hill serves as vice president of human resources. In her role, she is responsible for the leadership and operations of all human resources functions, including talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management, compensation and benefits. She is an accomplished human resources professional with more than 20 years of recruiting and human resource management experience.

Donna joined Telos in 2021 as director of human resources before being promoted to vice president. Prior to joining Telos, Donna held HR positions at Gannett and AOL, where she was responsible for human resource talent acquisition, operations and employee engagement.

Josh Salmanson

As senior vice president of technology solutions, Josh Salmanson leads a team of software architects and engineers in driving system integration and innovation to shape, enable, and position Telos products and offerings. Josh has 30 years of experience as a senior cyber and information technology executive with a record of success leading technology and solutions for organizations serving commercial and government customers.

He has led multiple high-performance teams on large programs of record for leading systems integrators and aerospace and defense firms, and is recognized as one of the “2020 Top 25 Cyber Execs to Watch” by Washington Exec.

Prior to joining Telos in 2022, Josh held technical and leadership roles at multiple dot-coms, startups, consulting groups, and systems integrators including Lockheed Martin, Parsons, NCI, and ECS.

Josh has been a member of Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) Technical Advisory Board since 2021. He has been recognized as a certified “Qualified Technical Expert” by the Digital Directors Network as a “board room-ready” technology and cybersecurity expert. Josh is active in CyberPatriot and STEM outreach efforts.

Josh holds a master’s degree in information and telecommunications systems from Johns Hopkins University and two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Maryland.

Kyle Scott serves as vice president of strategic programs. In this role, he engages technology, growth, and business teams to affect unity of effort while addressing customer needs and market trends. He oversees key identity and enterprise managed service programs, including Telos’ TSA PreCheck® enrollment service. Kyle has over 25 years of industry experience.

Kyle joined Telos in 2014. Prior to that, he led strategic programs at QinetiQ North America, the TSA, and other federal technology companies, where he focused on homeland security, defense and critical infrastructure technology and security programs.

He is a Project Management Professional (PMP) and a U.S. Army veteran.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point and a master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma.

Benjamin Taylor

Ben Taylor serves as the vice president of cybersecurity operations for Telos. He is responsible for all cybersecurity and information assurance consulting services and commercial off-the-shelf product implementations for the public and private sectors. Ben leads a team of cybersecurity consultants in enterprise software implementations, penetration testing, vulnerability analysis, assessment and authorization, and computer network defense. He has 20 years of experience in leading-edge technology that makes compliance and risk management a more automated and efficient process.

Ben joined Telos in 2008 as a program manager and has also held the position of director of program management. Prior to joining Telos, he worked at Booz Allen Hamilton, managing large information assurance consulting programs for the intelligence community.

He earned bachelor’s degrees in computer information systems and business administration from Towson University, and a master’s degree in information and telecommunications systems from Johns Hopkins University. He holds Project Management Professional and Certified Information Systems Security Professional certifications.

Director

David Borland has served as president of the Borland Group, an information technology consulting company, since January 2004. Mr. Borland was elected to the Telos board of directors in March 2004 after retiring as Deputy Chief Information Officer (“CIO”) of the U.S. Army with more than 30 years of experience in the U.S. Government. Mr. Borland’s career Army experience also includes serving as Vice Director of Information Systems for Command, Control, Communications, and Computers; Director of the Information Systems Selection and Acquisition Agency; and numerous other positions. From 1966 through 1970, Mr. Borland served in the U.S. Air Force.

Mr. Borland has received numerous awards, including the Meritorious Presidential Rank Award for Senior Executive Service Members (1996 and 2003), the Distinguished Presidential Rank Award (2000), and the United States Army Decoration for Exceptional Civilian Service (1998 and 2003). Mr. Borland’s industry experience and extensive service with the U.S. Army make him a valuable member of the board of directors.

Bonnie Carroll founded the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) in 1994, at a time when there was no national support network for the families of America’s fallen heroes. Through her own grief following the death of her husband, Brig. Gen. Tom Carroll, who perished in an Army plane crash in 1992 along with seven other soldiers, she turned her tragedy into a purposeful effort to create what is today the major national program providing compassionate care for all who are grieving the death of a service member.

Since its launch in 1994, TAPS has cared for the more than 100,000 surviving family members through a national network of peer-based emotional support services; a 24/7 helpline available to those grieving a loss; connections to community based care throughout the nation; and casework assistance for families navigating all of the resources and benefits available to them. Ms. Carroll was elected to the Telos board of directors in September 2020.

In addition to receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Zachary and Elizabeth Fisher Distinguished Civilian Humanitarian Award from the Department of Defense, Carroll was named a recipient of the Community Heroes Award by the Military Officers Association of America; has been recognized by the Defense Department with the Office of the Secretary of Defense Medal for Exceptional Public Service; and has received the Army’s Outstanding Civilian Service Medal and the Navy’s Distinguished Public Service Award.

Ms. Carroll holds a degree in Public Administration and Political Science from American University, and has completed Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government’s Executive Leadership Program on International Conflict Resolution. She is a graduate of several military service schools, including the USAF Logistics Officer Course, Squadron Officers School, Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute, Academy of Military Science and USAF Basic Training (Honor Graduate). Ms. Carroll was elected to the Telos board of directors in September 2020.

Derrick Dockery

Director

Derrick Dockery was elected to the board in January 2022. Mr. Dockery is a government relations and public affairs professional for TikTok, a leading global entertainment and technology company. He is responsible for outreach to the U. S. Congress, civil society, and industry stakeholders regarding a host of technology and other issues pertaining to the company. He also works with TikTok’s corporate social responsibility and partnership teams identifying initiatives that align with its focus of supporting its communities and making a positive impact.

Prior to his current role at TikTok, Mr. Dockery worked on Capitol Hill for Congressional House leadership. He served as the Director of Business and Intergovernmental Coalitions for the Speaker of the House. In this role, he led and developed stakeholder engagement strategies and cultivated critical relationships for a myriad of policy issues that paved the way for enacting key policy and legislation dealing with tax, national security and defense, technology, and other fundamental policy matters. Before joining the Speaker’s staff, Mr. Dockery worked on the House Committee of Oversight and Reform and Budget congressional committees.

Before embarking on a career on Capitol Hill and government relations, Mr. Dockery had a career in the National Football League for ten years. Mr. Dockery co-founded Yellow Ribbons United with his wife, Emma, a military support initiative dedicated to serving military children and families.

Mr. Dockery received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas, and an MBA from George Washington University. Mr. Dockery is a Texas native and currently resides in Northern Virginia with his wife and three children.

Bradley Jacobs was elected to the board in January 2022. Mr. Jacobs currently serves as a consultant on Department of Defense and federal agency bid protests and is also an adjunct professor at Rollins College in Winter Park, FL, where he teaches various business and economics classes. He also serves on the board of two nonprofit organizations, the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) and the Jewish Federation of Greater Orlando.

Prior to his current positions, Mr. Jacobs served as senior vice president of finance at BAE Systems, Inc., a provider of technology-led defense, aerospace and security solutions, where he was responsible for financial accountability for the company’s U.S.-based operating groups.

Mr. Jacobs received a bachelor's degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Maryland, and a master's degree in Industrial Administration from Purdue University.

General Maluda was elected to the board in October 2009. He retired from the United States Air Force in September 2009 after more than 34 years of continuous active duty. At the time of his retirement, General Maluda was Director of Cyberspace Transformation and Strategy, in the Office of the Secretary of the Air Force, and Chief Information Officer. In that capacity, he shaped doctrine, strategy, and policy for communications and information activities and served as the functional advocate for 30,000 personnel. Prior to that, General Maluda was Vice Commander, 8th Air Force, Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana.

General Maluda enlisted in the Air Force in 1973 and received his commission in 1978 as a distinguished graduate of the ROTC program at Troy State University, Alabama. His career highlights included serving at three major commands, with unified combatant commands, a defense agency, the White House and the Air Staff. General Maluda’s staff experience included positions at Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Air Combat Command, U.S. Air Force in Europe, Air Force Special Operations Command, U.S. Space Command and the White House Communications Agency.

General Maluda holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Auburn University, a Masters Degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California, as well as an Advanced Director Certification from the American College of Corporate Directors, a public company director education and credentialing organization. General Maluda has broad industry insight which makes him a valuable member of the board of directors.

Fredrick D. Schaufeld is a co-founder and managing director of SWaN & Legend Venture Partners (SWaN). Mr. Schaufeld is a partner in Monumental Sports and Entertainment, which owns the Washington Capitals (NHL), Wizards (NBA), Mystics (WNBA), Capital City Go-Go (NBA-G) and the Capital One Arena. He is a partner in the Washington Nationals (MLB), Team Liquid (e-Sports), the Professional Fighters League (PFL) and the Hill Top House Hotel, Harpers Ferry. Mr. Schaufeld also owns American Bike Ride, parent of the DC Bike Ride.

Prior to SWaN, Mr. Schaufeld founded and led NEW Corp. (NEW), which was acquired by Asurion in 2008 (now NEWAsurion). NEWAsurion is the world’s largest consumer product protection company, employing over 20,000 people worldwide. During his tenure, NEW was recognized by Inc. Magazine in its “Inc. 500” list of the fastest growing private companies. He is the patent holder of the Rigid Insurance Form and a founder and former president of the Service Contract Industry Council (SCIC).

Mr. Schaufeld currently sits on the boards of Sugar23, Noodle Partners, Custom Ink, KIND Healthy Snacks, DuraStat, José Andrés ThinkFood Group, Mindshow, PFL and Georgiamune, and is an advisor to the boards of Cava, UrbanStems and OrderGroove. Mr. Schaufeld is a recipient of Ernst & Young’s “Entrepreneur of the Year” award. He is a member of the Economic Club of Washington, DC, and of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO).

Mr. Schaufeld and his wife, Karen, live in Virginia and are active in organizations dedicated to early childhood development, literacy, health, environment, peace and the arts. He is the chairman of the Inova Health System Foundation and sits on the board of the Wolf Trap Foundation. Mr. Schaufeld was elected to the Telos board of directors in November 2020.
